STATEMENT BY CONGRESSWOMAN SHEILA JACKSON LEE

ON THE AFTERMATH OF HURRICANE MICHAEL

"Our hearts and prayers go out to the communities and families impacted by Hurricane Michael. This devastating storm was the worst in the history of the Florida Panhandle. I call upon the Trump Administration to act immediately to provide the necessary resources to homeowners and businesses in this region so that they can begin putting their lives back together immediately. Also, Congress needs to act immediately on an emergency supplemental appropriations bill to ensure that the resources to recover from this weather event are on the ground as quickly as possible."

"It is high time that our nation's utility companies begin to seriously consider the dire need for underground electrical power lines. The benefits to consumers, companies and the country far outweigh the costs associated with these infrastructure investments. Doing so would provide customers the ability to restore their lives much quicker."
