Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee Statement on the Submission of the Report by the Special Counsel on the 2016 Election

Jackson Lee—"Now that the report is submitted, the Attorney General must fully present its contents to the American people, and redact only that which is necessary to protect classified information. The White House absolutely must not deter and/or prohibit Congress or the American people from seeing the full Mueller report. Any claim of executive privilege must be very carefully exercised and the Congress will review such claims carefully. The American people demand nothing less."

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, a senior member of the House Committee on Judiciary, released this statement on the submission of the Special Counsel's report to the Attorney General:

"Earlier today Robert Mueller, the Special Counsel charged with investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election and tasked with determining whether that crime was aided and abetted by associates of the Trump Campaign, submitted his report to the United States Attorney General, William Barr. Consistent with federal regulations, the Attorney General must notify both houses of Congress. Now that the report is submitted, the Attorney General must fully present its contents to the American people, and redact only that which is necessary to protect classified information. The White House absolutely must not deter and/or prohibit Congress or the American people from seeing the full Mueller report. Any claim of executive privilege must be very carefully exercised and the Congress will review such claims carefully. The American people demand nothing less."
