Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee Mourns the Loss of Four Fallen Houston Firefighters
Washington D.C. – Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, a senior member of the House Homeland Security Committee, released the following statement upon learning of the tragic deaths of four Houston Firefighters who gave their lives in the line of duty today.
“I was deeply saddened to learn of the death of four firefighters who were killed in the line of duty on Friday.
“The death of these four firefighters is a terrible tragedy that is difficult for us to fathom and I extend my deepest sympathies to their families and loved ones. This is a difficult time for members of the Houston Fire Department, and my heart goes out to the members who are now morning the loss of their colleagues. We also pray for a swift and complete recovery for those firefighters who sustained injuries battling a 5-alarm fire in sweltering temperatures.
"I join with all Houstonians in mourning the loss and honoring the courage of these four heroes who offered their lives each day to protect us from danger. In the coming days we will remember them and their sacrifice while we support their grieving families during this difficult time.”
