Washington, DC: Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, a Senior Member of the House Homeland Security Committee and former Chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Transportation Security will host Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson at today's Roundtable Discussion on Youth Engagement on Countering Violent Extremism. Today's Roundtable will be a rare opportunity to engage in an open dialogue with our Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson about important issues affecting our community, including immigration, civil rights and civil liberties and violent radicalism.

The Congresswoman will also be hosting Secretary Johnson at Jack Yates High School Maritime Academy to discuss important maritime issues. As a former ranking member of the House Subcommittee on Border and Maritime Security, she believes that it is imperative for the young people in our nation to understand the value of the Coast Guard and Maritime Border Control. Maritime borders are pivotal to our national security. Later in the day the Congresswoman will join Secretary Johnson at Rice University for his speech on immigration reform.
