Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee
Congratulates Energy Institute High School on its new building dedication

Jackson Lee – "[T]oday's employment market has present certain factors which make job searches difficult: technology has stitched together a smaller, more interdependent world; globalization and automation have rendered obsolete jobs which before were essential; and there are many vacant jobs which remain unfilled because applicants lack the necessary skills to perform the jobs. Which is why today's building dedication at the Energy Institute High School is such a momentous occasion."

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, a senior member of the House Committees on Judiciary and Homeland Security, Ranking Member of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security and Investigations, and Member of the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement on the new building dedication at Energy Institute High School:

"Time and again, experience has shown that a strong, durable education is among the most reliable indicators of future success. This is no less true when considering the current job climate. But, today's employment market has present certain factors which make job searches difficult: technology has stitched together a smaller, more interdependent world; globalization and automation have rendered obsolete jobs which before were essential; and there are many vacant jobs which remain unfilled because applicants lack the necessary skills to perform the jobs. Which is why today's building dedication at the Energy Institute High School is such a momentous occasion.

"The significance of this building and this moment cannot and should not be overstated. Investments in education not only improve the professional prospects of students, they also improve student morale, and expand the universe of possibilities for young people. In the real world, this translates to innovations in energy manufacturing, robotics, media & communications and other critical disciplines. I congratulate all who made this day a reality and am heartened to think of all the positive change this can bring to students, parents and stakeholders. I am especially proud of the innovation surely to emanate from the 18th Congressional District, and the new generation of leaders and innovators certain to emanate from the area."

Sheila Jackson Lee, a Democrat representing the 18th Congressional District of Texas, is a senior member of the House Committees on Judiciary, Homeland Security and the Budget. She is a Ranking Member of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations.
