Washington, DC – Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee announced today that the University of Houston has been awarded $299,479 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for their project entitled “Role of Attractions in Modifying the Confined Flow of Colloids.”

“I am delighted to learn that the National Science Foundation is awarding the University of Houston with this generous grant. This grant will enable the University of Houston to expand their research programs and build new programs. These improved programs will entice new students and enhance the learning experience for current undergraduate and graduate students.

“I am a strong supporter of the NSF and several of their programs, including the Math and Science Partnership (MSP) –a program that works to improve student achievement in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields for diverse student populations.  I also support the STEM Education Act of 2014 which supports existing NSF programs.

“I would like to thank the NSF for recognizing the excellence of the University of Houston. I would also like to personally congratulate Dr. Jacinta Conrad, who is the principal investigator of the “Role of Attractions in Modifying the Confined Flow of Coloids” project. Congratulations, and I wish all the best in your future scientific endeavors.”
