Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee Announces Help For Senior Citizens In Debris Cleanup

CALL 211!

Congresswoman Jackson Lee: "I continue to walk my district in areas devastated by Hurricane Harvey. Many of the damaged properties belong to seniors who are in desperate need of help to remove sheetrock and other debris in order to ready their homes for repair. Without help, the mold will take over and their homes will be destroyed for good."

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, a senior member of the House Committees on Judiciary and Homeland Security and Ranking Member of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security and Investigations, released the following statement about critical help being offered to seniors who are struggling to recover from Hurricane Harvey:

"In the aftermath of the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey, I have remained very concerned about our seniors. That is why I have called for the creation of a special senior citizen liaison to interface with FEMA, and insure seniors get the resources they need.

"I have seen firsthand the impact this catastrophic storm has had on seniors' lives. But now, by dialing 211, seniors will have access to officials who will be able to respond and get them the help they need immediately."

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee is a Democrat from Texas's 18th Congressional District. She is a senior member of the House Committees on Judiciary and Homeland Security and is a Ranking Member of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security and Investigations.
