Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee Announces $762,601 in Research Grants to the University of Houston Awarded From the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee announced today that the University of Houston has been awarded $762,601 in grants from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for their Cancer Centers Support program and their Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism
“I am delighted to announce that U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is awarding the University of Houston with this generous grant. This grant will enable the University of Houston to expand its Cancer Center Support program and their Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolism Program. These improved programs will significantly improve Cancer research and drug development in addition to diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism research.
“I am a strong supporter of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and several of its research programs, especially the funding opportunities and grants for research programs that will significantly improve medical drug development, research, and treatment.
“I thank the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for recognizing the excellence of the University of Houston. I also congratulate the Director of the National Cancer Institute at the University of Houston, Diana Chow, and The Director of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Disease, Khurana Seema.
