COMMUNITY FUNDING PROJECT REQUESTS

Transportation Projects:

The House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) announced that they will formally accept requests for projects from House Members for surface transportation authorization legislation.

All requests submitted by Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee to the T&I Committee are posted below. Members are required to certify that neither they nor their immediate family have a financial interest in the requests made.

Appropriations Requests:

The House Committee on Appropriations announced that Members of Congress were allowed to submit up to 10 community funding requests. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee received many requests, some of which were not eligible under the criteria established by the Committee.

Applicant: City of Houston, (Houston Police Department HPD)

Description: This funding will be used to support the employment of nine (9) crime victim advocates via the BYRNE Justice Assistance Grants Program. These advocates help the department provide a trauma-informed response for victims of violent crimes.

Description: This funding will be used to construct the Bethune Empowerment Center and the East End Facility for Latino Arts (Talento Bilingue de Houston).

Description: The funding will be used to replace aging water and delivery infrastructure to a large portion of Jacinto City's residential and business districts.

Description: The funding will be used to establish a juvenile justice diversion program to identify gaps in services and provide resources for families and their children who were involved in the criminal justice system.

Description: This funding will be used for three flood projects, the Stormwater Detention Basin and Culvert Improvement; the Aldine Westfield Stormwater Detention Basin; and the Blue Bell Regional Stormwater Detention Basin.
