CONGRESSWOMAN JACKSON LEE DISCUSSES ROGER CLEMENS VERDICT

WASHINGTON, Jun 18, 2012 -

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, a Senior Member of the House Judiciary Committee, released the following statement regarding the Roger Clemens verdict:

“Roger Clemens, a native of Ohio but a longtime Houstonian, and his family have been through five years of him facing federal charges. Mr. Clemens came to the Congress willingly; in fact he appeared before the House Judiciary Committee of which I am a Member. It is should be well known Americans want to ensure that all sports operate with the highest integrity at all times.

“However, I believe the jury has spoken and it is a just decision. I hope Roger Clemens and his family continue to live in Houston and that he will be able to continue to inspire young athletes. This decision says that all sports will have to assess their procedures on these issues and I hope they will do so without the government having to intervene.”
