CONGRESSWOMAN SHEILA JACKSON LEE STATEMENT SALUTING HEROISM OF SEN. JOHN MCCAIN AND ALL WHO HAVE WORN THE UNIFORM IN SERVICE TO AMERICA
July 20, 2015
Washington, DC - Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, a senior member of the Committees on Homeland Security and the Judiciary, Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations, released the following statement today expressing support, gratitude, and appreciation for all who have worn the uniform in the Armed Services of the United States:
"Two of my uncles served in the Armed Forces in World War II and a third help keep the peace during the immediate post-war period. They, like millions of others who have worn the uniform of the Armed Forces of the United States, risked their lives to defend our nation and protect the rights we cherish.
As the Scriptures teach, ‘Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.' John McCain and countless others like him willingly risked their lives to keep their fellow Americans safe. And that is what makes them heroes. Donald Trump is simply wrong.
Congresswoman Jackson Lee is a Democrat from Texas's 18th Congressional District. She is a senior member of the House Committees on Judiciary and Homeland Security and is Ranking Member of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations.
