CONGRESSWOMAN SHEILA JACKSON LEE APPLAUDS PROGRESS MADE IN IRAN NUCLEAR TALKS

April 2, 2015

Jackson Lee: “It is important that the negotiators not impose an arbitrary deadline; what is important is to reach an agreement that ensures peace and a non-nuclear Iran”

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee released the following statement today in response to the announcement that the P5+1 negotiators have agreed to extend the Iran nuclear negotiations in Lausanne, Switzerland:

"I am encouraged that the P5+1 negotiators appear to making significant progress and have agreed to continue negotiations. I applaud the negotiators for not imposing an arbitrary deadline on their talks. Adhering to a self-imposed deadline is less important than reaching an agreement that ensures peace and a non-nuclear Iran."
