CONGRESSWOMAN JACKSON LEE ANNOUNCES TSU STUDENTS AWARDED $40,000 BY THE DWIGHT DAVID EISENHOWER TRANSPORTATION FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, a senior member of the House Homeland Security and Judiciary Committees and founder and Chair of the Congressional Children's Caucus, released the following statement today announcing that the Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program has awarded $40,000 in scholarships to Texas Southern University to help its' students diminish the cost of a college education.

"The $40,000 scholarship will help students at Texas Southern University pay for their college education. It is vitally important that students are able to afford to continue their education. I am so proud of Texas Southern University and its' talented students for earning these significant scholarships."

"An educated, open-minded, and worldly group of young people is incredibly important for the success of Houston, America, and our global society. It is imperative that students not end their college experience buried in a mound of debt. That is why I have championed and advocated for programs to help college students pay for their furthering education, as well as drawing attention to scholarships, such as the Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program."
