CONGRESSWOMAN JACKSON LEE ANNOUNCES EVERY KID IN A PARK PASS

September 10, 2015

September 2, 2015

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, a member of the Congressional Wildlife Refuge Caucus and a recent recipient of the Friend of the National Parks Award from the nonpartisan National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA), released the following statement today announcing that the Council on Environmental Quality has launched the Every Kid in a Park Pass:

"The pass will allow fourth graders nationwide to obtain a pass from www.everykidinapark.gov that will allow them free access to any federally owned and managed lands. I am incredibly excited that fourth graders across the nation will be able to visit our striking and essential national parks, forests, marine sanctuaries, and wildlife refuges for free. "

"It is essential for students to experience our beautiful country and expand their physical and mental horizons. Not only is Every Kid in a Park an opportunity for family fun, it is also an opportunity to spark awareness of the many benefits of our nation's parks and waters."

"Today over eighty percent of families live in urban areas and lack the ability to explore safely outdoors, I congratulate President Obama's effort to bring our children back outside. I would also like to take this opportunity to wish our National Park Service a happy early one-hundredth birthday!"
